Reuters reports [lastfm]Elton John [/lastfm]and [lastfm]Leon Russell[/lastfm] have teamed up to record an album under acclaimed musician and producer [lastfm]T Bone Burnett[/lastfm]!

Elton John is known for his collaborative projects which have in the past included a diverse group of classic rock musicians, rappers and pop stars. Billboard.com reports that [lastfm]Neil Young[/lastfm], [lastfm]Booker T. Jones[/lastfm], [lastfm]Marc Ribot [/lastfm]and [lastfm]Jim Keltner [/lastfm]have all contributed to the current project which is now underway in Los Angelos.

Elton John released his last studio record in 2006 and is currently touring with Billy Joel. According to Reuters Leon Russell recently underwent brain surgery but is playing well and excited to be contributing to the album.
