Director James Cameron is planning a submarine trip into the Mariana Trench to record 3-D footage for use in an ‘Avatar’ sequel.  Daily Mail reports Cameron has “acquired a high-tech submarine with highly resistant materials, enabling it to resist tremendous pressures.”

Jacques Piccard and Don Walsh are the only men to ever travel into the trench.  In 1960 they traveled 10,916 metres beneath the Pacific Ocean surface.  Check out the film footage.
