Paul McCartney, Rick Springfield, Olivia Newton-John, Nancy Sinatra and other stars share in their own words, memories of Elvis.

Paul McCartney: “We met him one evening in Los Angeles, before he got heavy. We just admired him so much.”

Olivia Newton-John: “I went to his show to meet him. We were waiting backstage for him and something happened. Some emergency and he had to leave. But he did my songs. He did ‘Let Me Be There’ and ‘If You Love Me’.”

Robert Vaughn: “At MGM, my office was on the second floor, his music company was on the first floor. So we met every day and he was always very polite. He addressed me as ‘Mister Vaughn,’ a very sweet man.”

Rick Springfield: “I got on the plane, I was traveling economy. Elvis was sitting in the front. At the end of the flight, I’ve never seen anybody else do this, just before it landed in Hawaii, he walked back down the aisle signing autographs.”

Rod Argent: “Pulled up in front of Graceland, walked through the gate, knocked on the door and the guy that I remember being his father came to the door. And we said, ‘We’re the Zombies from England, is Elvis in?’ And he said, ‘Well, Elvis will be sure sorry to have missed you, but he’s filming at the moment.”

Nancy Sinatra: “Wonderful and gifted actor and he didn’t have a chance. He just had no chance. Because he was stuck in those icky movies like the one we made.”

John Lennon: “You know, you went to see those movies with Elvis or somebody in it when we were still in Liverpool. And they’d all scream when you came on the screen. So we thought, ‘That’s a good job’.”
