Cinco de Mayo comes a few days early this year in Mexicantown. Bring the family down there Sunday for the 5th annual Fun Run and Walk.
It’s the 5th Annual Detroit Cinco de Mayo Fun Run and Walk Sunday in Mexicantown. The fun starts at 11:30 at Clark Park at 1500 Scotten Avenue.
You and your family will have a great time and money raised from the event will help send young people to sports camps. Promoters say the event has had a very positive impact in Detroit in terms of both fitness and reflection of the social diversity of Southwest Detroit.
If you’d like to take part in the 5K run the fee is $20. The one mile run/walk is $10 per participant.
Cinco de Mayo is Spanish for May 5th and the celebration dates back to the 1862 Mexican victory over the French at the Battle of Puebla.
Of course you’ll have the delicious dilemma of where to chow down after the event. My mouth is watering even thinking about it!
