What is Cinco de Mayo? The Mexican holiday (which means fifth of May in Spanish) commemorates a Mexican victory against French forces in the city of Puebla nearly 150 years ago. Though the day has little significance in Mexico, Mexican Americans for years have viewed Cinco de Mayo as a way to express pride in their heritage.

Head to Saginaw for as La Union Civica Mexicana Presents: The 32nd Annual Cinco de Mayo Celebration! May 7th at the Wendler Arena in Saginaw, MI. Cover is $3.00 at the door. Event begins at 12:00pm and lasts until 5:00pm! Live music…parade and much more. The parade starts at Ojibway island from Ezra Rust Drive, crossing the Saginaw River over Court Street Bridge and turning north on Michigan Avenue, East on Genesee Avenue and ending just before the Genesee Bridge. Then head over to The Dow Event Center at noon for the festival to join the celebration of history and heritage!
