[photogallerylink id=65040 align=right] Mary Tyler Moore (74) is reportedly scheduled to undergo brain surgery to remove a benign tumor.
Spokeswoman Alla Plotkin told the Associated Press on Thursday that the surgery date has not yet been set.
Doctors have been watching the meningioma, on the protective layer of tissue between the brain and skull, for some time and elected to operate while Moore was in good health.
If left untreated complications can arise from meningioma brain tumors including pressure which can cause seizures, headaches and affect vision, movement and speech. Untreated tumors can also become malignant.
Meningioma brain tumors are most common in older women.
