The Michigan economy might still be a little rough…unless your brewing beer! I’ll drink to that!
Saw a story in The Detroit Free Press about Michigan’s fastest growing indusrty…microbreweries!
We are fifth in the nation for the number of craft breweries, with over 100 statewide. Bell’s Brewery in Kalamazoo, the state’s top brewer, which produces Oberon, sold 135 barrels of beer their first year in business in 1983. They are on track to sell 180,000 this year in 18 states and Puerto Rico.
I love to hit a brewery on the weekend and catch a game or hang out with friends, while supporting our local economy. Hey, if I have to drink our state out of this recession, so be it! One of my favorites is the “Naked Blond”, made at the Sports Brew in Wyandotte. It’s a light beer, delicious with pizza!
So, what is your favorite Michigan made beer?
