Michigan Firearm Deer Season Underway
Today is a holy day for deer hunters in Michigan. It’s opening day for the firearm season. Hundreds of thousands of hunters will be looking to bring down hundreds of thousands of whitetails.
A lot of folks have scheduled vacations this week for the opening of the firearm deer season in Michigan. The season runs through November 30th.
This year an estimated 600,000 hunters in Michigan will go after the elusive whitetails. Last year 418,000 deer were brought down. Roughly 56% of all deer are bagged during the firearm season.
Baiting is being allowed this year but hunters can use no more than two gallons spread over an area measuring 10 by 10 feet.
The deer season is big business for Michigan. This year the season will pump an estimated 6 billion dollars into the economy.
If you’re going, good luck. And please exercise the utmost caution. Sadly we usually lose at least one hunter in Michigan during the firearm season.
