Newt Gingrich can now be added to the list of politicians who have had musicians say no to using their songs. The Republican Party contender is getting sued over his use of the song, “Eye Of The Tiger.” The new lawsuit, first reported by TMZ, was filed in Illinois federal court on behalf of Rude Music Inc., owned by Frank Sullivan, a co-author of the song.
Gingrich has been using the song at various political events since 2009. He used the song at the Conservative Political Action Conference in 2009, 2010 and 2011. He as used it during the Southern Republican Leadership Conference in 2010.
