It’s been 20 years since Eagles guitarist Joe Walsh released his last solo album, 1992′s “Songs for a Dying Planet.” Since then, the music world – and well, the world as we know it – has gone through serious changes – a fact Walsh channeled into his new record.
Singing lines like “When something goes wrong, I don’t have a clue/some 10-year-old smarta** has to show me what to do” on the album’s title track, Walsh wittingly channels his digital age frustrations into tunes with “Analog Man,” to be released June 5 on Fantasy Records/Concord.
The album is produced by ELO frontman Jeff Lynne and Walsh, and features Ringo Starr – Walsh’s brother-in-law – on drums. While Walsh’s 1978 song “Life’s Been Good,” was a tongue-and-cheek portrait of his rock star lifestyle at the time, Walsh says twangy “Analog Man” track “Lucky That Way” is a grown-up sequel of sorts to his biggest hit.
Listen to “Analog Man” (the track, not the album) over at Walsh’s official website.
