When are taxes due in 2012?

If you’re one of the many procrastinators waiting until the last moment to file your 2011 taxes you need to know the very last day you can file your taxes without penalty.  In 2012, your 2011 taxes must be filed no later than April 17, 2012 at midnight. Yep, Tuesday, April 17th, 2012 is the deadline to file your 2011 tax returns!

Why is the 2011 tax filing deadline April 17th instead of April 15th? April 15th is a Sunday in 2012. Emancipation Day will be observed on Monday, April 16th so the tax deadline has been moved to Tuesday, April 17th.
