Taylor Swift To Play Joni Mitchell In Upcoming Film

Taylor Swift could be portraying Joni Mitchell in an upcoming movie. The movie is a adaptation of the book “Girls Like Us” by Shelia Weller. The book examines the life of Joni, along with Carole King and Carly Simon. The book is an alternating biography that read like a novel that gave readers new information on the women.

Although no official offer has been made, Variety reports that she has been linked to the role for several months as other actresses have been auditioning for the other lead roles. Katie Jacobs, the executive producer of House, is directing from a script by John Sayles. John is know for films such as Lone Star and Eight Men Out.

While the role and movie aren’t officially greenlit, this would be Taylor’s first major role in a film. Earlier this year, it was rumored that she was cast in the movie adaptation of Les Miserable, but the role end up going to another actress. She did lend her voice to the character Audrey in the Dr. Seuss movie, The Lorax.

Taylor told MTV that “acting is something I’ve been fascinated by my entire life,” adding that she would have to have the right part to consider taking a hiatus from her music career. “I would want to have the time, the ability and the love for something, the love for a character to where I could really make that commitment to it.

Girls Like Us is tentatively scheduled to start production later this year when the three leads would be available.
