Have you seen the TV commercials for Febreze, the air freshener? Well apparently a whole lot people have because that stuff is turning up everywhere including our studios here at 104.3 WOMC.
Febreze some time ago hit TV with a very interesting commercial series for its air freshener product. If you haven’t seen spots they involve leading a couple of blindfolded people into a filthy room with severely worn furniture, dirty sneakers, a smelly dog—whatever. The blindfolded people are asked to describe what they’re experiencing. They describe the air as wonderfully fresh and in their minds, they’re in a really nice place. When they are asked to remove their blindfolds they are, as they say in Britain, absolutely gobsmacked over the filth and dirt in the room. The implication, of course, is that Febreze had been sprayed in the room prior to their arrival and it made everything right.
The TV ad campaign appears to be wildly successful. What turns up at my home? Three cans of Febreze! Ditto for the restrooms here at 104.3 WOMC. Over the weekend we dined out twice and in both cases, Febreze was featured in the restaurant restrooms.
I guess it’s true what they say about the power of advertising.
