The remake of the 1984 film Red Dawn is finally hitting theaters on November 21st. The movie was filmed right here in the Detroit area, with a lot of scenes shot in Mount Clemons. Due to financial troubles at MGM, the film was shelved for almost two years. On top of the money troubles, Red Dawn was also “editied” to change who the villian was. Originally it was China who invaded the US, now it is North Korea. After all the changes and waiting, a trailer and release date are finally here!

Pay close attention to the trailer and see if you can see the cameo by 104.3 WOMC!

27 seconds into the trailer, the camera focuses on the car’s radio. And the frequency displayed on the radio, 104.3 FM! Now we know the movie doesn’t take place in Michigan, but that scene was filmed in town so they had to be listening to Detroit’s Greatest Hits!

One benefit in shelving the movie for two years, is that the stars of the film have had major box office success. Red Dawn stars Chris Hemsworth, Josh Peck, Adrianne Palicki, Josh Hutcherson, Isabel Lucas, Connor Cruise, and Jeffrey Dean Morgan. Hemsworth has seen massive box office numbers with his role as Thor in The Avengers. And Hutcherson fought for his life in The Hunger Games.

Red Dawn hits theaters November 21st on Thanksgiving weekend.
