Don’t say the Rolling Stones didn’t change with the times (though sometimes it doesn’t always work out). For their concert on December 15th at Newark, New Jersey’s Izod Center, the band will offer a live stream to PCs, smartphones and tablets – for a price. Hey, it’s an infinitely better idea than the time they offered a phone dial-in to listen to their A Bigger Bang European Tour in 2006.
This is also to the pay-per-view option the band has out there for the same show. The added benefit for the online live stream is that for the same price, $39.95, as the pay-per-view you will be able to watch the video for 30 days afterwards on multiple devices.
This is a first of its kind event for a live performance to be offered so widely on the internet. “These guys have always been on cutting edge,” said Perkins Miller, executive vice president of digital media at World Wrestling Entertainment, in a statement. “They are using the latest technology to deliver (and show) that they are on still on top after 50 years.”
Fans can access the digital pay-per-view of the “One Last Shot” concert right now at the Android marketplace, and iTunes will have an app later this week, according to USA Today. You can also get the digital stream at rollingstones.com/watch.
