There is a report that President Barack Obama has decided to sell the Grand Canyon to China.
The online tabloid Weekly World News, billed as “The World’s Only Reliable News,” says the president made the decision to sell the U.S. landmark to the Chinese to help relieve the debt America owes to China. The report says the sale is pending final clearances from U.S. Treasury Secretary Tim Geithner and the Committee on Foreign Investment.
The report says the U.S. currently owes China 1.4 trillion dollars and needs to borrow even more and that Treasury Secretary Geithner reportedly reacted to the deal by saying: “It’s a brilliant solution.”
President Obama reportedly told leaders in China that he was willing to “let the Grand Canyon go for 100 billion but not a penny less.”
The Weekly World News says the Chinese think that President Obama is not a very good negotiator and that they toyed with the notion of making him throw in the Painted Desert, too.
