Absolute Worst Song In Music History?

Author: Jim Johnson

Soooo…..I walk into the Bobby Mitchell Show this morning and he was playing a song I had (fortunately) never heard before.  I think I offended him when I asked….”what in God’s name are you playing?”  He informed me it was a number one hit in the ’80s called “Rock Me Amadeus” by a guy named Falco.  He got really upset when I told him I would prefer the Barking Dogs doing “Jingle Bells.

I looked up the artist Falco and discovered his real name was Johann Holzel, an Austrian musician. Apparently, he had several international hits: “Der Kommissar”,  “Vienna Calling”, “Jeanny”, “The Sound of Musik”, “Coming Home (Jeanny Part 2)” and posthumously, “Out of the Dark”. “Rock Me Amadeus” reached No. 1 on the Billboard charts, making him the only artist whose principal language was German to score a number-one hit in the United States. His estate claims he has sold 20 million albums and 15 million singles, which makes him the best selling Austrian singer of all time.

Unfortunately Falco died in a tragic automobile accident in the Dominican Republic in 1998 just 2 weeks before his 41st birthday.

While I was taught NEVER to speak ill of the dead, I think his music is fair game.  WORST SONG I’VE EVER HEARD!  But that’s just me…take a listen and tell me what you think.
