Report: Locusts Invade Detroit

Did you notice anything unusual in the sky over Detroit this past Sunday? Any swarms of bugs in your neighborhood? Well the online tabloid The Weekly World News reports that Detroit was menaced by 50,000 locusts on Sunday!

The tabloid publication, infamous for outlandish stories, says the locusts were so bad over Detroit that unmanned, drone aircraft were deployed to squirt the invading locusts with insecticide.

The WWN quoted Mayor Dave Bing as saying: “Locusts can have a devastating effect on buildings and car factories.”

A Detroit resident identified as Alvin Johnson who lives on 6 Mile Road told the tabloid: “We’re doomed.” The report went on to say that many in Detroit believe that the Motor City is much like Egypt back in the day and that the locust problem is just the beginning of several plagues that will overtake the city. Sure, as if the auto industry bailout and the city’s current financial mess are small fry!

The WWN speculates that because of prevailing weather systems, Chicago could be next on the locusts hit list.
