We’ve all done it. Whenever we have a little down time at home or work, a lot of us will check our social media accounts. Rather than just see what friends and acquaintances are up to, you can utilize those few minutes to save big bucks from major retailers or your favorite restaurant at the end of the block. Here are a few tips to use:
- Compile a list of companies that you frequently buy from, like grocery stores, clothing stores, airlines or general department stores. Follow these companies on Twitter or “like” them on Facebook to get exclusive offers that may not be available to the general public. For example, become a fan of Sears and you’ll receive two $5 coupons: one for a $50 in-store purchase and another for a $50 online purchase.
- Search Hashtags. Popular social media bargain finder hashtags include #coupon, #BOGO, #deal, #savings, #frugal and #giveaway.
- Use FourSquare while traveling to get discounts on restaurants and shops. It’s a great way to learn about what is available locally as well.
- Compare prices before buying. There are Twitter accounts that allow you to easily compare prices on items so that you get the best buy. For example @TinyMassive provides comparison information when you tweet about a specific product.
