The Men of WOMC Take It Off For No Shave November

Eight brave men of WOMC are pledging to keep No Shave November to raise awareness and funds for prostate cancer research. According to the American Cancer Society, in the U.S this year around 239,000 new cases of prostate cancer will be diagnosed, with 29, 700 men succumbing to the disease.

“Around one in six men will be diagnosed with prostate cancer in their lifetime and that figure is too high. Treatments can be very tough and we need more research into the reasons why the incidence is so high, and how we can improve treatments. Getting hairy is one small way we can bring attention – and hopefully funding – to this medical issue,” said Bobby Mitchell.

Bobby & Stacey‘s intern, Twizzler, was the first to suggest the station participation after his grandfather was diagnosed with prostate cancer.  “He’s doing as well as anybody can be while undergoing treatment.  He’s got about six more months of treatment to go.  It’s not getting him down, but I wanted to do whatever I could to help,” he said.

WOMC has teamed up with a great organization – the Upper Lip Hair Affair –  for donating to the cause. Check out the Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/TheUpperLipHairAffair . The donation page can be accessed at https://fundrazr.com/campaigns/6NcW8/sh/611IT0?
