Journey lead singer Arnel Pineda announced that the band, along with manager John Baruck, Live Nation and the Creative Arts Agency, will donate $350,000 to help the people impacted by Super Typhoon Haiyan in the Philippines. The initial funds will be donated to the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP), which will provide 1.4 million meals to Filipinos in need of food assistance.

Pineda, who is a native of Manila, is passionate about helping the victims of the typhoon in his homeland.

“Don’t stop believing, help is on the way for the people of the Philippines,” Pineda said via statement, quoting one of his band’s biggest hits.

Hunter Biden, Board Chair of WFP, said he was extremely grateful for the contributions from Pineda and Journey.

“We’re honored to have Journey’s support and Arnel Pineda’s leadership on this incredible donation for WFP’s emergency relief in the Philippines,” said Biden in a press release. “Their support is going to make a real difference for so many Filipino children and families in need.”

So far, the WFP has provided rice to more than 170,000 people and High Energy Biscuits in 20 communities. Approximately more than 615,000 people have been affected by Super Typhoon Haiyan.

Fans can also join Pineda in his quest to help the Philippines. Donations can be made at http://www.wfpusa.org/journey or by texting the word AID to 27722 to instantly donate $10.
