Donor Gives Waitress $6,600 To Help Pay for College But She Was Not Enrolled

Have you ever donated to a person you later found out lied about their situation? No long ago a waitress made news by receiving a $6,600 tip to help pay for her college. The donator named Bill first told his story, “In the process of serving us, we got into a conversation. I’m a fairly outgoing guy, and we’re talking about backgrounds and things like that. So she told me her story, and I was listening to it. It was very moving to me.”

Then his response to her need, “I said I would be interested in offering with your tuition. She said that would be nice and I have to say she didn’t ask for any money. She didn’t seem to be conning me at all.”

Bill followed up with the college, “Monday I called over to the school, FGCU to try to find out if she was a registered student. And I found out though my investigation that she was not registered.”
