7 First Alert meteorologists gave us another perfect day for the annual Woodward Dream Cruise. I’ve personally been to all 20 and this year’s was among the best!
More than a million people from all over the world and more than 40,000 classic cars also from all over the world. The question on everybody’s lips….”what’s your favorite classic car?” Impossible to answer…I love ’em all! From the early classics made in Detroit, like the giant “50’s Buicks, Cadillacs, Pontiacs and Lincolns (preferably convertible) to the 60’s muscle cars from Mustang to GTO to Corvette and Mopar. I like the classic police cars and ambulances and fire trucks. I even like the new hot cars like Vipers, Stingrays, Jaguars, Teslas, Maseratis and Mercedes. This year featured some of all of the above. There’s always unique one-of-a-kind pieces like this one:
The absolute largest passenger vehicle at the cruise! Built on a truck frame, everything else is custom from scratch. I asked the driver what he called it and he simply asked you guys to name it. Comments welcome.
Culinarily speaking, My day began here with the best damn donuts in America!
Quick “Big Chief” at Duggan’s for luinch!
Then came the “Hot Mess” from Famous Dave’s BBQ:
It’s a clear solo cup layered with baked beans then BBQ pork followed by a layer of coleslaw and another of pork, topped off with the final layer of crumbled corn bread.
Obscure reference of the day was actor Broderick Crawford and the old TV series “Highway Patrol” while I was looking at a vintage restored Dodge Polaris Squad car.
Big fun seeing all of you and being the soundtrack for the 20th annual Woodward Dream Cruise! Can’t wait to toast the 21st next year! #dreamcruise
