James Brown — dead almost eight years — apparently has yet to be buried. His longtime chauffeur William Murell tells Britiain’s Guardian newspaper that the Godfather of Soul is now at his daughter’s house in what he calls a “muminized” condition “so he would never rot, at $140,000 cost. Why? When you got almost 20 kids and six wives it’s hard to get you in the ground.”
Not surprisingly Murell — who worked for Brown for 15 years, driving him to everywhere from concerts to doctor’s appointments — is planning to write a book and claims he’s developing a bio-pic starring Jamie Foxx.
Well, there once was a hit movie called Driving Miss Daisy. Could a Driving Mister Brownconnect with the public? Quoting his old boss, Murrell says, “James Brown told me I need to be in Hollywood ’cause when I drove I always wore a black suit, a white shirt and a black tie – and white gloves, like Michael Jackson” — whom he also worked for. Murrell’s resume also includes driving stints for Prince, Chris Rock, Don King and the Reverend Al Sharpton.
