Harrison Ford in Critical Condition after Plane Crash

VENICE (CBSLA.com) —A pilot believed to be actor Harrison Ford crashed a small, two-seater airplane on a Venice golf course just west of Santa Monica Airport.

The small, yellow plane crashed about 2:24 p.m. at Penmar Golf Course, 1233 Rose Ave., not far from the Santa Monica airport, according to Los Angeles Fire Department spokesman Erik Scott.

There was only one person on board the plane — the pilot, who was taken to a hospital in critical condition.

No one was injured on the ground.

According to celebrity gossip site TMZ, the pilot was Ford, the 72-year-old actor best known for his roles in the Star Wars and Indiana Jones franchises. Ford is a longtime aviation enthusiast.

NTSB officials are investigating.

UPDATE (4:34 pm PT) Multiple sources are reporting that it was, in fact, Harrison Ford in the crash.

(4:49 pm PT) People reports that Ford is in stable condition.
