2015 has seen one of music’s biggest live draws, Paul McCartney, find surprising relevance by collaborating with Kanye West and Rihanna. But, not everyone is impressed with the former Beatles legend performing with musicians half his age. Ex-wife Heather Mills had a a few shots to shoot toward her ex, saying that most kids don’t know who Paul McCartney is anymore.
“If I go down the street,” Mills said on Ireland’s The Late Late Show (via Ultimate Classic Rock), “all I get is kids coming up to me. Half of them don’t even know who he is. That’s why he’s got to do songs with Rihanna and Kanye West, so people remember.”
Of course, maybe Mills’ criticism is exactly why McCartney made the songs. A desire to stay relevant isn’t exactly a knock on someone who has devoted their professional life to making music.
