Legendary music icon Joni Mitchell, 71, was rushed to the intensive care unit of a Los Angeles hospital after being found unconscious in her Bel-Air home, according to reports.
According to Variety (per TMZ), Mitchell regained consciousness and was alert en route to the hospital.
Details regarding what exactly caused the singer/songwriter to be hospitalized have yet to be released.
Mitchell has endured a series of health issues throughout her life, including scarlet fever and polio as a child. More recently, she was diagnosed with Morgellons disease, “a rare condition that causes people to experience a crawling and biting sensation to the skin,” reports New York Daily News.
“Fibers in a variety of colors protrude out of my skin like mushrooms after a rainstorm,” Mitchell explained in an interview from 2014. “They cannot be forensically identified as animal, vegetable, or mineral.”
