Pitch Perfect is back with a vengeance this weekend, giving facelift to the reputation of a cappella groups and musical-loving nerds ’round the world.
It’s not an obvious candidate for a second movie, as the first one was more of a sleeper hit that has very sloooooowly grossed over $100 million worldwide. It’s kind of a weird film, too, piling a girl a cappella group onto a love story onto a story about female bonding, and then wrapping it in a competition burrito with a heaping helping of covers of current pop songs.
But if you loved it for the music (rather than the girl bonding), and you are all about the comedy (rather than—again—the girl bonding), we’ve got a few other movie musical-comedies you might want to check out. The comedown from watching Pitch Perfect 2 might be hard, so turn to these flicks in your time of musical need.
