After the critical and box office success of Straight Out of Compton, there’s been big buzz surrounding the upcoming biopic of Tupac Shakur. All Eyez On Me, produced by James G. Robinson, David Robinson and LT Hutton, is being directed by Hip Hop video veteran, Benny Boom and has been making news lately with the announcement of various cast members.
The movie will cover the career of the slain rapper from the start of his music career; covering the East Coast/West Coast feud involving The Notorious B.I.G., his time at Death Row Records, and the events leading up to his 1996 death.
The roles cast so far:
Tupac Shakur: Demetrius Shipp Jr. (This is his first acting role)
The Notorious B.I.G.: Tupac’s former friend and main rap rival, his nemesis in the infamous East Coast/West Coast Hip-Hop beef. To be played by Jamal Woolard AKA Gravy (Notorious)
Mutulu Shakur: Stepfather to Tupac who was convicted in 1988 for his role in taking part in several robberies, homicides and a 1979 prison escape. Will be played by Jamie Hector (The Wire, Bosch, Quarry, The Strain)
Afeni Shakur: Tupac’s mother, who is also executive producer of the movie. Will be played by Danai Gurira (Walking Dead, Treme)
Jada Pinkett Smith: Actress and childhood friend of Tupac who was a high school classmate at the Baltimore School for the Arts. Being played by Kat Graham (The Vampire Dairies, Addicted, The Parent Trap)
