Paul Simon: Reunion With Garfunkel Out Of The Question!

Author: Jim Johnson
Paul Simon has announced what seems to be the end of Simon & Garfunkel as both a performing entity — and perhaps a lifelong friendship. In a new Rolling Stonearticle publicizing his 13th solo studio set, Stranger To Stranger, due out on June 3rd, Simon touched upon the dormant duo’s “State of The Union,” mentioning that his tour will wrap up at the recently re-opened Forest Hills Tennis Stadium — a stones throw from Simon’s childhood home in Queens, New York and the site of Simon & Garfunkel’s final concert before their split, held on July 18th, 1970.

Simon recalled the recently reopened tennis stadium — now New York City’s hippest outdoor concert venue — remembering, “It’s the first big concert venue we ever played. It was also where the final Simon & Garfunkel took place before the reunions that came many years later.” When asked about a future teamup with Art Garfunkel, Simon “sternly” replied: “No, out of the question. We don’t even talk.”
