Maroon 5 Bassist Gets Community Service for Drug Charge

By Robyn Collins

Maroon 5’s Mickey Madden was sentenced to one day of community service after being arrested for the possession of cocaine earlier this year.

The bassist was arrested outside a New York bar on January 21. Madden was accused of passing the illegal drug to film producer James ‘Bingo’ Gubelmann (who, as the tabloids have joyously pointed out, is the former boyfriend of Donald Trump’s daughter Ivanka – although they broke up in 2005).

Madden accepted a conditional dismissal offer during an appearance at Manhattan Criminal Court on Tuesday (May 17), according to  New York Daily News

Madden will be allowed to complete a day of community service at a Los Angeles nonprofit of his choosing. The offense will then be expunged from his records after six months.

“(Madden) was purely innocent. He didn’t possess any narcotics,” the musician’s lawyer Joe Tacopina said, before adding: “He’s a good guy. He’s not somebody who has ever had any interaction with the law before.”
