Sleep Guidelines By Age

Here are your sleep guidelines by age from the American Academy of Sleep Medicine. Ranging up to 16 hours, it’s all about healthy living especially during the formative years, “More than a third of the U.S. population is not getting enough sleep, and for children who are in the critical years of early development, sleep is even more crucial. Making sure there is ample time for sleep is one of the best ways to promote a healthy lifestyle for a child.”

-4 to 12 months require 12-16 hours of sleep.
-1 to 2 years, 11-14 hours.
-3 to 5 years, 10-13 hours.
-6 to 12 years, 9-12 hours.
-13 to 18 years, 8-10 hours.
