Sinead O’Connor Alive and Kicking Up a Storm

By Jon Wiederhorn

Sinead O’Connor may have eluded concerned relatives and the Chicago police that were sent to search for her, but the Irish pop singer has been found posting on Facebook. She wrote that she’s not feeling suicidal—contradicting reports and rumors—and continued with a passionate post about how Britain’s decision to leave the European Union is a victory for her homeland of Ireland.

“It’s bulls—, [the rumors that] I jumped off a bridge,” she wrote, adding “some stupid b—- up at Swords Garda station decided she’d like to throw a bit of false and malicious gossip about is all.”

On Thursday (June 23) a police spokesman said O’Connor’s family contacted police after the pop singer told them she was feeling suicidal. The officer added that a policeman saw someone threatening to leap from a bridge over a Chicago highway and feared it might be O’Connor, but it wound up being a 54-year-old man, Billboard reported.

O’ Connor’s first Facebook post since June 5 continued with a rant about Great Britain’s decision to leave the European Union, and unlike many, she’s pleased.

“IRELAND IS OFFICIALLY NO LONGER OWNED BY BRITAIN!!!!,” she wrote. “CONGRATS TO EVERY MAN, WOMAN AND CHILD WHO EVER DIED FOR THE CAUSE OF IRISH FREEDOM, AND ALSO TO ALL THOSE INCLUDING MYSELF, WHO HAVE BEEN PERSECUTED MERCILESSLY BY THE IRISH SO CALLED FREE-STATE FOR HAVING DECLARED SUPPORT FOR SINN FEIN AND THE REPUBLICAN MOVEMENT.”
