Cream drummer Ginger Baker, 76, is currently recovering from open heart surgery and a fall, British tabloid The Mirror reports. Both incidents took place in mid-June.

Baker’s daughter Leda wrote on her dad’s website, “He called the day after his surgery to say he was OK. Albeit a rather disoriented and unintelligible conversation, he was at least awake and aware. The fall has resulted in swollen legs and feet which he is seeing his doctor about in the next day or so.”

After he was diagnosed with serious heart problems, Baker had to cancel a tour in February with his band Air Force. At the time, he wrote on his site, “Just seen doctor … big shock … no more gigs for this old drummer … everything is off … of all things I never thought it would be my heart.”

Leda added that fans shouldn’t expect her dad to take the stage any time soon. “Although he is recovering, any performances in the near future seem overambitious.”

In 2013, Baker told Rolling Stone he was “absolutely exhausted” by the end of his gigs and was suffering with degenerative chronic obstructive pulmonary disease from smoking and osteoarthritis, for which he was on a pain management program.
