The other shoe has dropped — Ryan Lochte and his fellow U.S. swimmers weren’t robbed at gunpoint. They made the story up to cover up a brawl they’d gotten into at a gas station.
Over the weekend, the swimmers reported having been the victims of a robbery. But a judge ordered them to stay in Brazil after becoming suspicious of inconsistencies in their stories. As has been widely reported, Lochte was already on his way home at that point, but Gunnar Bentz, Jack Conger were pulled off a plane yesterday (Wednesday), and Jimmy Feigen is still in Brazil, too.
Now it turns out the whole thing was a lie. According to numerous news sources, the four broke a door and other things at a gas station and then got into a fight with security, who demanded they pay for the damage. Surveillance video reportedly shows the entire altercation.
