I’ve posted several story’s about restaurants trying to battle food waste. Another restaurant has come up with the strategy of charging customers a fine for not finishing their food. It is a buffet but the food is chosen from a screen at the table because as owner Luan Guoyu states, “eyes are bigger than our stomachs”.
The fine is $1.15 and so far the restaurant has collected over a grand which is donated to charity. The passion is there, “At home, we try to produce as little waste as possible, so why not do the same at the restaurant.” More details at Oddity Central.
