Bruce Springsteen Gets into Christmas Spirit a Little Early

By Robyn Collins

Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band played for nearly four hours on Tuesday night (Aug. 23) to a hometown crowd at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey.

Christmas came early for one fan when he got to sing “Santa Claus Is Coming To Town,” with the Boss, after the 66-year-old rocker saw his sign in the audience calling it “the perfect summer song.” The fan even got a selfie, to which a good-natured Springsteen said, “Why always the selfie?”

Four hours was long enough for Bruce to play 35 tunes and tell personal stories about his mom and dad, his childhood and late nights eating diner food after gigs.

After a brief band huddle, he finished the night off perfectly with “Jersey Girl.”

The concert, which kicked off the Springsteen’s latest tour, was the first of three the band will play at MetLife Stadium.
