Considered the most scenic in Michigan, the Pierce Stocking Scenic Drive is also mentioned as one of the best in America. Entering off of M-109, the 7 mile road in Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore was created by lumberman Pierce Stocking in the 60’s and later taken over in the 80’s by the National Parks Service.
I’m surprised that only around 80,000 are reported to make the drive annually. I guess that’s a good thing compared to the congestion encountered at other parks. Including forest, covered bridge, and breathtaking lake views, it’s a must do. See the amazing pics here.
