Detroit’s Earliest Sunset of 2016 Isn’t Dec. 21, It’s this Week!

By: Steve Kostan

If it weren’t for all of the holiday lights and decorations these early sunsets would really, REALLY be getting me down. However, I found a tiny crack of optimism. We all know the shortest day of the year is Dec. 21, but I have way too much time on my hands, and discovered sunset is earliest in the D this week.

Sunset on Wednesday and Thursday is listed as 5:00:13 p.m. on the site sunrise-sunset.org. Dec. 7th and 8th, Pearl Harbor and John Lennon, weird. However, sunrise keeps getting earlier until Jan 2nd. 8:01:18 am.

The good news is by Friday, it’s the weekend and the sunSET will be a whole 3 seconds later! By Christmas night it’s 6 min 8 sec later, 5:05:48.  Wow, talk about table scraps. Since I’m a night guy, and it’s a slow music day, it works for me.
