Paul McCartney: 40th Anniversary of Live Album ‘Wings Over America’

By: Steve Kostan

I saw just where it was 40 years ago Paul McCartney released the live album, “Wings Over America”. I remember WABX playing big chunks of it that cold afternoon in December of 1976. It was either Frawley or O’Leary. Paul McCartney and Wings had been in Detroit in May for 2 shows, and the memories of that night at the Olympia were still fresh. SIR Paul still kills it live today but this album with Wings is a great musical snapshot. I’m sure many of you were at the old Red Barn, The OLYMPIA those nights?
