McCartney Or Clapton: Who Will Gently Retire First?Who'll be the first to ride off into the sunset -- Eric Clapton or Paul McCartney?
McCartney: More New Music In The Works (Video)While Paul McCartney was home in England recovering from a virus that sidelined his Out There tour of Japan as well as the start of his North American leg, he used the time off to work on new music. He says, "I went into my recording studio and did some music that I didn't have to do, some experimental stuff. That was a really nice musical awakening, and it made me feel better... I did an album called McCartney 2 [in 1980], where I had experimented with sequencers and synths in their early days. I wanted to get back into that, but I really hadn't had much time before... Over a week, I did a couple of tracks, and that reawakened my musical taste buds. I was really happy with those. They were just funky little experimental things, instrumentals..." As for plans to do more recording, he says, "I've got a lot of songs that I've written, and some that I need to finish. There's no fixed date, but at the back of my mind, I'll be wanting to clear a few months for me to write up the most likely of the songs that I've got on the boil and figure out how I want to record them and what I want to do with them. But I haven't booked any studio time. It's all there as fun for the future." His last album was 2013's New. After postponing shows in June, Macca re-started his Out There tour on July 5th in Albany, New York and has posted highlights of that night on his website. He did the last show on Wednesday night in Kansas City, Missouri and he'll resume the tour on August 2nd in Minneapolis.
McCartney Gets Back To WorkAfter a virus caused the cancellation of his Japanese tour and the postponement of seven U.S. dates in June, Paul McCartney finally resumed the Out There tour on Saturday at the Times Union Center in Albany, New York, three hours north of New York City.
